QCodes: Used Terminology
| QCodes' Home |
These acronyms and terms are used in the QCodes section:
Code Value or Code Part: The string associated with a specific Concept in a specific CV.
Concept: A Semantic Web resource = anything that one may wish to refer to, e.g. Diplomacy, Paris, the Euro, OECD, the Japanese language, Oil, Olympic Games. Thus concept here has a broader meaning than is usual. This is because we are dealing with the idea of Paris, rather than with Paris itself, the idea of Oil, rather than Oil itself, and so on. Concepts fall in two broad categories: named entity (e.g. person, organization, location, ...) and generic (or abstract) concept (e.g. categorization terms for content like politics, architecture, social media, ...) .
Concept URI: The globally unique URI which identifies a Concept. Also known as the ‘Concept ID’
CV = Controlled Vocabulary: A set of Concepts which is controlled by its authority.
These synonyms of Controlled Vocabulary are also used in this QCodes section:
- Scheme - in the context of NewsML-G2
- External Enumeration - in the context of the semantic markup of web pages.
CV URI: The globally unique URI identifying a CV.
CV Alias: The short name of a CV URI.
QCode: A Qualified Code
The terms MUST, MUST NOT, SHOULD, SHOULD NOT, MAY are used as defined by the IETF RFC 2119
